Healthier Salad Dressings & Sauces
We’ve put together a mixture of different salad dressings to keep your salads both nutritious and tasty this summer!
Zingy green herb dressing
Ingredients
Handful of Italian parsley
Handful of basil
Juice of 1 lemon
2 garlic cloves
1/4 cup oil oil
Method:
Blitz all ingredients into a food processor or bullet until smooth
Creamy tahini, maple, & lemon dressing
Ingredients
1/4 cup tahini paste
2-3 Tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp maple syrup
2-4 Tbsp boiling water
Method:
Whisk tahini paste, lemon juice and maple syrup in a bowl / mug, or add to a jar and shake well
Add water and mix until you reach a thin, creamy consistency
Balsamic & olive oil vinaigrette
Ingredients
3Tbsp olive oil
1Tbsp balsamic or red wine vinegar
1/2tsp wholegrain mustard seeds
Squeeze of lemon juice
Method:
Add all ingredients to a mug or jar and mix well
Give it a taste, if it’s too vinegary add more olive oil. If it’s not vinegary enough, add more balsamic. Easy!
Healthier slaw or potato salad dressing
Ingredients
1/4 - 1/2 cup plain unsweetened yoghurt
Juice of 1 lemon
2 garlic cloves, chopped fine
Handful of herbs chopped fine (Italian parsley and/or chives go well)
Method:
Mix all ingredients together
Healthier ‘sour cream’ for nachos, tacos, and wraps
Ingredients
1/4 - 1/2 cup plain unsweetened yoghurt
1 - 3tsp chipotle sauce (depending on spice tolerance)
Juice of 1 lemon
Method:
Mix all ingredients together. Add more or less chipotle sauce depending on spice tolerance.
